Ramblings (Inspired by a Neon Sunset)

From my spot in this seat, the horizon is electrified; neon colors in the distance promise every conveince possible.

Whores for your dollar, they will say whatever is required to keep you under their spell.

Hour after hour, cause and effect, want/take.

Instant gratification, friend.
Isn't that what you wanted?

No desire left unfulfilled; no challenge.
These days, who wants a challenge?

Wants have given way to must-have's.
Now, now, now!

"Violet, you're turning violet, Violet." I murmur, half to myself; a sad view of society. The woman on my left with the curlers in her hair looks at me like I'm the crazy one.

2 Moms "waterfront" contest!

So, once again, it's time for a '2 Mom's' challenge!! This week's theme is 'waterfront' and the minute I saw this theme, I knew which picture I would enter; my cousin Meggie during a recent shoot we did near the lake. I am a huge sucker for black and white shots with just a little punch of color, and this photo lended itself perfectly to that sort of photo.

Project 365...day 170

Day one hundred seventy. Happy Fathers Day to all the wonderful, caring, amazing fathers out there; especially my dad, my step dad, and most of all, my SPECTACULAR husband Bob. He is always there, picking up slack and juggling balls to help me in so many different little ways.

On fathers day, I had to work, and at the start of my day I had no idea what time I'd get home....if it would be in time for dinner, or to even really SEE my little humans before bedtime. Instead, I was out mid-afternoon, and we had a wonderful dinner and then treated the husband to his fishing license for the year, and spent the evening by the pond.

I &hearts Faces; Celebrating Teens!

This week over at I ♥ faces the theme revolves around teenagers....The minute I saw this, I knew EXACTLY what photo I was going to enter. A few months ago I was looking for a teenage model; one who wasn't a cookie cutter giggly, bubbly teenager, and boy did I find that in Emmy! My boss's daughter is smart, and pretty, and interesting, and a billion other thing, but one thing Emmy is not is typical. She was willing to give anything a shot, and this perticular shot was captured with only a little bit of danger. She climbed a fire escape on an abandoned building for me!

I'm thinking that in a few weeks when it's teens only week, I can get Emmy out to shoot with me and see what SHE comes up with when I hand her a dslr. ♥ To see more amazing teens head over to I ♥ faces or just click the button below!

Project 365....day 169

Saturday June 19th. A day that will live forever in infamy. 2 Sara(h)s, 1 Concert. VIP for Phish at SPAC. My life is now complete.

and as an added bonus, because I can't say enough about how hard it rocked....here is a little bit of the show that completed my life for all of you! ♥

Project 365....day 168

Thursday found me with a few hours free to just go shoot until my heart was content, and after what I stumbled across, boy was I! I stopped near a bridge just outside of Speculator, NY to shoot the water. When I turned around and saw a huge nest on the telephone pole, I nearly fell over, but then when I saw the bird that lives in that nest, I actually stumbled. There, circling above that huge nest, was a Mama Falcon, and said nest contains a currently unknown number of babies!!! I will be going back in the next week or so to see if I can't sneak a peek at the little ones, but for now, here is the beautiful Mama Falcon, and if you look closely, you can see the fish she'd just caught for those little tiny babies!

2 Moms "camping" contest!

It's Friday again, and you know what that means? Time for another '2 moms' photo contest!! I'm so glad that I found this, because I enjoy so much trying to find the very perfect picture for the theme. ♥ This week, the 2 moms team has chosen camping, and I thought of the perfect picture!! Again this week, I'm entering my sweet Amelia-mazing, this time at one of our favorite hiking and camping spots. She loves the woods soooo much, and you can see that though I got her to stop for a moment so I could snap the shutter, her eyes are already off on the next adventure....and I wouldn't have her any other way! ♥

Project 365....day 167

My oldest little human graduated from pre-k on Thursday! ♥ Here are some of the highlights!

First, Amelia-mazing getting her diploma!

Then, some pics with a few of her favorite people!

Project 365....day 166

I really, REALLY ♥ it when my kids play dress up. Daddy is a favorite character around here, but not in the brief case, tie, jacket sorta way....instead, we get this:

..........and this.............

Project 365....day 165

"Take to the highway, won't you lend me your name..."

This black eyed Susan is in bloom.....these are some of my favorite summer wild flowers.

Project 365....day 164

I super-duper LOVE the way this flower is just beginning to open! ♥ (not to mention the bokah)

I found these beautiful purple and yellow flowers just inside the woods at my Momma's house, and when I saw them, I just HAD to take a closer look. In the process, I nearly stepped on a snake!! (and may or may not have screamed)Still....I got the flowers!

2 Moms "School" contest!

Just for fun this week, I thought I'd try out a photo challenge being run at another blog. The theme there this week is 'school' and I have the PERFECT photo to enter, so how could I resist, right? Early in the spring, my girl's class invited my husband to come in for 'G' week and teach the kids a little about a guitar. Needless to say, everyone had a blast, and my husband is now a rockstar on the pre-k set! Here are my two rock stars, doing what they do best! ♥

I ♥ Babies!!

Baby animals, especially! When I saw that this week at I ♥ faces the challenge would be "Babies", I was SUPER excited, and I began sifting through the TON of pictures I have of various stages of babyhood. It was tough, but I finally settled on these sweet little baby birds...

Ok, maybe not cute, but you must agree that they are babies in the truest sense of the word...these little birds are about 3 days old in this picture. My little humans and I have been watching since the momma and papa bird built their nest above the light on my mom's toy shed. Today, these little birds have all left the nest, but less than a month ago, they looked so fragile and teeny-tiny. To see more great 'baby' pictures, please click the camera below!

Project 365....day 163

Today was a pretty great Sunday! It wasn't rainy today, simply overcast, and I was supposed to have to work....and I did, at least, a little. I had to go to the restaurant I work at for a bit (before I was supposed to be there to waitress) because my church was having a luncheon to honor some of the longstanding active members....while I was there this little sign caught my eye...

Before I left the restaurant, I found out I didn't have to go in at 4! What a fabulous Sunday!! Instead, I went home, and my family and I played...

Project 365....day 162

Yesterday was terribly rainy. It made it very, VERY difficult (and scary!) to take my brand new friend Mr. Canon outside.I managed to snag about fifteen minutes to sneak outside (sneaking so the clouds and the children didn't see me!) and I was fortunate enough to grab a bit of color! ♥

Project 365....day 160

"Fruitcakes in the kitchen, fruitcakes on the street. Strut naked through the crosswalk in the middle of the week.

Half-baked cookies in the oven. Half-baked people on my bus. There's a little bit of fruitcake left in everyone of us.

While I was at work Thursday night, I was lucky to have the nice weather and perfect light to capture the flowers I planted about a month ago. They're FINALLY starting to bloom!

Im the farmer
I work in the fields all day
Never wanted to harm her
But I know it was meant to be this way.

Project 365....day 158

{Up-close, these big purple clovers always make me think of the truffula trees from the Lorax....

"I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.
I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues.
And I'm asking you, sir, at the top of my lungs"

My handsome husband is always complaining that when I take pictures of him, I never really show his face...it's always 'hat and beard', but never any face....so here, finally, are some good captures of 'husband'

Project 365....day 157

I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay...

Watching the tide roll away.

Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay,

Wastin' time....
